    Decluttering pitfalls

You will notice as you go through the book that there are many decluttering pitfalls. These need to be avoided at all costs if you¡Çre to go ahead with your decluttering plans.

If you find that you have somehow or other managed to circumnavigate your decluttering efforts then take a closer look at what happened to make sure that it wasn¡Çt a decluttering pitfall that you fell into.

The following ones that I¡Çve mentioned are only the most obvious decluttering pitfalls that everyone comes across. There will be others so which are more specific to each person, so you will need to be on your toes.

    The pitfalls include,

    · Becoming distracted before you can even get started, by some other project which seems more important.

    · Mental apathy and exhaustion taking you over the minute you even think about decluttering.

    · Getting bogged down in paperwork, before and during your decluttering efforts.

    · Allowing nostalgia to take you over when you¡Çre decluttering.

    · Guilt at throwing away perfectly ¡Ègood¡Ç items.

    · Lack of anything resembling ruthlessness when you¡Çre sorting through your clutter.

You need to be careful here as you can end up with the same things, just rearranged in a different way!

    · Procrastination.

    · Finding great bargains, and buying them, while still in the process of decluttering. Does it really make sense to do this?

    · Indecision about where to start your whole decluttering process.
